This weekend saw the return of the SSG, a debut for our new under 8s and a very busy Dermot Wheeler and Finn Park.

Many very entertaining matches were enjoyed by all, well done to all the kids and coaches involved.

U8's

The first ever matches for this year's U8s took place at home on Saturday against Wicklow Rovers.

The boys and girls, fresh out of last years academy, played their hearts out with plenty of goals scored by both teams.
Some excellent play by both Rovers and ourselves and, most importantly, plenty of fun was had!

Well done to all the players and coaches and thanks to Wicklow Rovers for travelling

U9 Green

On an absolutely perfect morning for football - Finlay Park, Wicklow Town played host to the first game of the season for the u9 Green team.

A pitch buzzing with new season excitement witnessed 4 incredibly competitive matches between 2 well matched teams.

An impressive new team debut from Marley Tighe, stunning goals from Ardan Jayawardene, Sam Keating and Jane Hayes and inspired goalkeeping displays from 8 different players all point in the direction towards very enjoyable season ahead for the Greens.

Go Antos !

U9 Yellow

The Under 9s Yellow squad opened their season with a super home display against a tough Newtown Juniors side on Saturday.

Impressive debuts from Declan Phelps, Tadhg Murphy and Myles McAllen, all getting on the score sheet.

Isaac Renwick and Hari McCabe were constant threats in attack both scoring 2 goals each, while Ezra Messit (2) and Sam Lester also opened their accounts for the season in style.

Four games played for St Anthony's in what proved to be a very competitive fixture.

Peter O'Driscoll, Matthew White and Odhrán Robson continue to improve on their preseason form. Jamie Cleary and Kai Pilkington controlled the defense and started attacks with great passing out of defense.

Oskar Toomey put in yet another assured performance while Charlie Cleary dominated proceedings in midfield.

Fantastic effort by all the players and great to see the pass and move ethos shining through. Lots of positives on display and great things to come from this team.

Thanks to Newtown for the game and looking forward to meeting again later in the season!

U10 Green

Saturday morning saw the U10 Greens take on Enniskerry in their first match of the new season. Great football played by both teams but especially by our three girls who were outstanding today. Thanks to Enniskerry for the game, look forward to meeting again later in the year!

U11 Yellow

U11 Yellow kicked off the new season at Dermot Wheeler Park today with great game against Avonmore.

This is the first time this team have played Avonmore and it was a very competitive game with great skills and effort from all involved.

Well done to all players from both teams for a very entertaining match and thanks to Avonmore for traveling up.

U11 Blue

U11 Blues started our season with an early morning trip down to Coolboy on Sunday.

Due to illness and holidays, we were only able to bring down a squad of 8. The players gave it their all over the 50 minutes in a very competitive game against a good Coolboy team.

Thank you to all the parents who travelled on a cold Sunday morning.

And a special shout out to Coolboy on their gracious welcome and especially their players who wore the St Anthony's colours to ensure it was an even and competitive game.

U12 Red

Our U12 Reds were also in action on Saturday on Dermot Wheeler Park in a friendly game against Avonmore.

The first half was end to end stuff with a cracking goal from Shaun Fernandes, excellent defending from both sides and some super saves from Bryan Nolan.

Avonmore pulled away in the second half with some well taken goals of their own but a lovely shot from Kyle McCormack boosted the squad who fought hard until the end for another.

Standout players today for our Reds were Mason Kelly, Aaron Lavery, Bryan Nolan and Ethan Mallon. However, all 17 players played their part with coaches John and Ross very happy with their mornings work. We have a selection of players on this team who have only joined the club in recent weeks and held their own against a very strong opposition, well done lads!

Big thanks to Avonmore for travelling up to give the lads a match, thanks to coach John for refereeing and to all the parents for cheering them on.

Lastly the players, coaches and club would like to thank Derek Byrne of Keller Williams in Eden Gate for his very generous sponsorship of 20 jerseys for our team. Your support is very much appreciated, the lads looked great!

U12 Blue

Super effort from the U12 Blue squad against Carnew at home on Saturday. A win 7-2 seen goals from both attacking and defending players (Drew Doyle, Tyler McElvaney, Fionn Jayawardene, Oliver McHugh and Patrick Parker .

Great use of possession gave us the ability to get up and down the wings and direct through the midfield to create chances. A few kids playing in new positions and also a debut for Albert this morning.

Big shout out to our shotstopper (Cian Hanley) making some brave decisions to keep the blues on the front foot.

Thanks to the parents for a good support today. Well done to the kids, they thoroughly deserved the win and register their first points in the league.

U13 Yellow

In a fast paced hard fought match with Arklow Utd U13 B, our Yellows played excellently at Finn park.

A goal each for Ashton ORiordan and Max Doyle in the first half and great goal keeping from Mason Finnerty to keep a clean sheet.

No let up in effort from the entire squad throughout the match, well done lads!

Thanks to Arklow United for travelling up and for a very entertaining game!

U14 White

A tough and competitive match against local rivals Rathnew ultimately ended in a win to the visitors at Finn Park yesterday.

St. Anthony’s Goals came from No. 10 Lucas Constantino, N0.11 Jamie Milligan and No. 18 Alvaro Blasco but wasn’t enough to get the win.

Some good individual performances on the day came from Jack Prendergast at Right Back, Luka Dowling Left Back who provided good service to their midfield. Ryan Farrell in the first half provided a good performance as Central Midfielder showing everyone his good ability on the ball.

The man of the match however was Aidan Saarkoppel at Centre Back, he kept his team in the game for the full duration of the match and dug deep with a number of goal line clearances to weather a storm from Rathnew who eventually took all three points.

Hard luck lads, on to the next one!

Seniors

Antos seniors travelled to Avoca on Sunday to take on St Pats in our 10th league game of the year.

We were on top from the start playing some great football 10mins in, Pat Woods swung a ball in from the left side to find Philip 'Farmer' Brien who headed home from 6 yards.

Shortly after Ryan Heffernan again swung a good ball in from the left and deflected off a pats player to go in.

2-0 at halftime, Antos started the second half the brighter side. The ball was given to Shane Doyle for our third, he took the ball on his chest and swivelled to volley into the far top corner. Pats were then awarded a penalty scored making it 3-1.

Antos pushed on and from a great ball up from the back from Lar Kenna, Shane was on hand again to head home.
Final result 4-1 Antos another 3 points in the bag, well done men.

Man of the match was Shane Doyle with a brace
